This image is a true reflection of the beauty of creation. The colours in the picture pop out, with the contrasting grey-blue with the orange-red of the sky. The boat as the subtle focus, the focus but still so inferior to it's surroundings, demonstrates the ability for man to live in this world, but not own it. The image is a favourite of mine and I am sharing it because of the emotions it invokes as previously explained.

This new clip shows a group of surfers building a wooden surfboard made entirely of an old log found on the beach. This takes surfing up to its origins as the first surfboards were made of this material.

Back in the time, wooden boards were made using the Wili Wili, the Ula and the Koa tree's and ranged from 10 to 16 feet long depending on social class. For hawaiian commoners  the size was about 10-12 feet while for the noblemen and chiefs the size was between 14-16 feet.

This photo was captured by the incredible Darren Whittington. It is a near perfect tube that is unridden. Some would say that this is a wasted wave, other would more simply prefer to marvel at it's beauty. I'd agree with the latter, as I find it difficult not to marvel in pure awe at such a wonderful demonstration of God's creation. The focus on the wave, with the spray blending into the headland behind shows the relaxed, and calm emotion from the scene, with the paddling surfer just soaking in the atmosphere, no doubt relishing the surroundings he's a part of and thanking God for such a beautiful thing.

This image sends shivers down my spine. I cannot believe how perfectly spaced each peak is from one another, how identical they are, and how perfect the black and white filter makes the whole image. I am lost for words as I gaze upon the detailed artistry of Lorne Greenlaw, as they have captured such a remarkable natural masterpiece, with their mega-lens. I am thankful to have stumbled across this image!

Those who have followed my site for a while know that I like surfing done in extreme conditions. It is easy for every slacker in Southern California to hit the beach with a surfboard (even just to show off), but to enter a sea in a remote region where the water temperature is cold beyond believe, sure takes some guts. "Collect Call from Canada" follows the three day surf trip of a very talented group of surfers headed by Dane Anderson. The stunning scenery allied to the music by Jesus and Mary Chain are the other contributions that make this flick one of the best surprises of the year.
